Diving Truk Lagoon – Dive mecca for wreck divers Liam Whelan
Liam has been diving with Naas Sub Aqua Club for over 20 years and has been an active instructor within the club and the Dublin South region over this time. Liam qualified as a CCR diver in 2003 which has enabled him to dive many of the deeper ship wrecks.
Liam is currently the NSAC Diving Officer and SAR coordinator for the Dublin South region. Liam is also a keen underwater photographer and videographer.
Over the years Liam has organised diving trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, Thailand and Egypt. Liam’s interest in Truk Lagoon was sparked from the Jacques Cousteau 1969 Undersea world series and in particular the Lagoon Of Lost Ships aired in 1971. Liam has been fortunate to dive Truk Lagoon, this top shipwreck destination, twice in the last 12 years and most recently in January 2019.
Liam’s talk will cover a brief history, planning, costs and logistics of diving Truk Lagoon.
