Kate (or Dr. Kathryn Schoenrock-Rossiter, whatever you prefer) is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Dive Officer at NUI Galway. She has worked and dove on every continent, but specializes in polar seaweeds and kelp forest ecology. For three years she has been studying kelp forests along the west coast of Ireland, and now she is investigating the resilience of these communities using molecular and ecological tools.

Her talk will go over the diversity of fish, sponges, and more that can be found in kelp forests, and how important these seaweeds are as a food, habitat, and economic resource.
